1 Public transportation is almost perfect in Debrecen. The local bus company runs several lines with decent frequency, and there is a reliable taxi service. Debrecen can be reached by coach and train, or just follow road number 4.
2 Debrecen is a University town, ask around the local campus and you will most probably find info about a current event, conference or party.
3 Debrecen is known for its Flower Carnival. Every august the streets of the city are flooded by pompous flower carts parading around the city, providing a truly spectacular sight.
4 Tourism in Debrecen is fairly significant, so there are many choices for the well-off. Luxury hotels can be found just by asking around, or just look for Divinus Hotel Debrecen.
5 If you are looking for a mid-range or family centered hotel, try looking up Centrum Hotel Debrecen. They have great service and fair prices.
6 If you are looking for a cheap place to stay try Némethy Panzió. It has great prices and the service is excellent.
7 Before the Second World War Debrecen had a colorful Jewish population, and that leaved the city with numerous synagogues. One of the biggest the hundred year old Status Quo Conservative Synagogue is still open, just south of Bajcsy-Zsilinszky street.
8 Just off of Vágóhíd street is the vivid flea market of Debrecen. It is about 15 to 30 minutes from the city centre, and if you are interested in buying, well, anything, be sure not to miss this adventure!
9 If you are looking for a place to dance, Debrecen has a few great options for you. “Cool Music & Dance Club” is always a good place to start, ask around for directions.
10 Finding pubs is an easy thing to do in any Hungarian city, but finding a good one is a bit more difficult. Look for Romkert as they have good prices and a decent atmosphere on most nights.
