1 Hungary is part of the EU, but does not use the Euro yet. Official currency is the Hungarian Forint (HUF). 1 Eur is about 300 HUF, and most restaurants and shops do accept both currencies.
2 Traveling to Eger is easy, just log onto mav-start.hu for train tickets, or volan.hu for coach information. Both sites have English versions.
3 Don't forget to visit Palacsintavár, which is an impressive pancake emporium. It is guaranteed that you will not leave with an empty stomach!
4 Touring the Eger Castle is a must, ask around at the local tourist office for guided and interactive tours.

6 Need a family hotel for the night? Try calling Hotel Senator Ház Eger as they are quite friendly and usually have a room to spare.
7 Hungary is relatively cheap, and Aviátor Motel Vendégház is a great place to stay for a night or two.
8 If you feel like taking a walk visit the tree-lined Kossuth Lajos street and look out for the many architectural wonders on the way.
9 Eger is famous for one thing, the Eger Castle. It played an important part in Hungarian history and it is sight no one should miss!
