1 Any kind of vehicle, including bicycles are not allowed in the city. Prepare to walk everywhere
2 In the winter there will often be acqua alta, high water. Bring boots with you, although many hotels will provide them for you.
3 If you plan to visit Piazza San Marco, or St. Mark's Square, consider waiting until late afternoon, near sunset. The crowds will have thinned out by then, the golden hour sunlight will make it all the more beautiful.
4 Be sure to check out Casa Goldoni, which is included in the Museum Pass. It is a restored mini palazzo with a charming courtyard. Three of the upstairs rooms are made to look like an eighteenth century party is taking place.
5 If you plan on visiting Venice's churches, consider buying the Chorus Card. It allows free admission to fifteen churches, and includes a map of most of the major sights of the city.
6 Book a tour through Tofino Expeditions, because the best way to see the city is by water.
7 If you want to be pampered, book your stay at the Hotel Excelsior.
8 One of the best hotels in the city is the Hotel Cipriani.
9 A great hotel in Venice is the Londra Palace.
10 To save money on transportation, look for the ATVO and ACTV desk in the arrivals area of the airport when you arrive.
